Some manufacturers just produce a basic range of outboards
and insist that the end user adapts what “they” make to fit the job
--- NOT AT YAMAHA ---

Yamaha always listens, designs and develops products
that customers really
need.

The History
Yamaha,
unlike most other outboard manufacturers, have long recognised the importance
of producing an engine Tailor made for the European inland waterways
system. This they did back in 1983 when
they produced there first patented dual thrust propulsion model; the
FT9.9AEL.
Yamaha have now produced a new model to replace the above unit with
even more
refinements than before, new features include:
100cc
Bigger bore Power head on 9.9hp models (i.e. more low down torque)
Selectable
Power Tilt (who else would even consider adding power
tilt to a 8hp engine)

The Present
Since then they
have recognised how this format can be utilised for heavy displacement vessels
needing high levels of pushing power (torque) and manageability. These types of vessels often are equipped
with battery draining electrical equipment such as live bait well pumps and
specialist electronic equipment. To help with this Yamaha have included, on all
High Thrust models, high output charge coils to cope with this greater demand
level.
These models feature many things formally lacking in competitors
equivalents such as:
High output charge coil

3:1 ratio gearbox
Dual thrust propulsion system
Electric start
Automatic Choke (remote solenoid below 15hp)
Perfect as a quiet and lightweight sail drive engine
for Catamarans or Sailboats. The larger models are idea for powering the new emerging
Fast fisher/Pilothouse vessels requiring higher levels of torque to cope with
much heavier payloads.
Unrivalled choice of
Instrumentation, Control boxes, Propellers and wiring harness options,
available in a full range of Tiller steer or Remote control models. In other
words a superbly packaged model range particularly suited for displacement/semi
displacement vessels often used for commercial and leisure applications, either
at Sea or on the Canals and Rivers of Europe.
